BIRMINGHAM UK, LONDON UK & DALLAS TX: Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe, MetaSwitch and Efficient Networks have announced the first successful demonstration of Voice over DSL (VoDSL) with simultaneous full-screen video service in Europe.

Using the Fujitsu FDX DSL Access Concentrator and MetaSwitch's VP3000 Integrated Broadband Voice Platform, simultaneous toll quality voice and video services were delivered over ADSL to an Efficient 8600 Next Generation Integrated Access Device (NG-IAD). This solution provides operators with an ideal way to deliver enhanced DSL services to both businesses and residential users, without the need for additional investments in legacy narrowband access equipment. The ability to provide voice, data and video simultaneously to end users - with guaranteed quality of service - is seen as an important technical advancement, as broadband service providers converge their networks onto a single platform that supports multiple services.
