Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe Limited, the leading supplier of high performance telecommunications solutions, announces the appointment of Shigeyuki Unagami as the company's new Managing Director. Mr Unagami joins the company direct from Fujitsu Limited in Japan, where he has worked since leaving university, with his most recent role being that of General Manager, Telecommunications Network Group. This new position reflects the high level of his achievements across many years in the telecommunications field, with his depth of experience making him eminently qualified to manage the continued development and growth of the European division. 

Mr Unagami's responsibilities for the Telecommunications Network Group encompassed the global co-ordination of Fujitsu's telecommunications business, enabling him to visit the European division on many occasions and become familiar with its operations. Commenting on his appointment, Mr Unagami said:"It is a privilege to be taking on this role at such an important time in Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe's progress. This appointment is particularly rewarding as the company faces a dynamic future, with our leading-edge technologies developing on many fronts and creating a multitude of opportunities, building on Fujitsu's successful track record in the European market. Mr Michio Kono, managing director of the company for the past two years, has performed such an excellent job of leading the European division - he has set a high standard for me to follow. Mr Unagami holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Nagoya University in Japan and, prior to his most recent position, he was Director of the Optical Access Systems Development Department of Fujitsu's Telecommunications Network Systems Group. A highly skilled tennis player, Mr Unagami was born in 1946 and is married with two sons, listing golf and gardening among his interests.
